COOPERSTOWN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Authorities say they are working to identify a person found dead inside a vehicle that crashed into a Manitowoc County river and caught on fire.
It happened just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on Kvitek Road in the town of Cooperstown.
Officials say a compact SUV was traveling south on Kvitek Road when it left the roadway and went into Devil’s River and overturned onto its passenger side and then caught on fire.
After the flames were extinguished, a badly burned body was found inside the vehicle. The victim was the only occupant.
The Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office is trying to identify the deceased individual.
