L-R, Dawson Miler, Annaka Trudell (Fond du Lac Co. Jail)
FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The death of a woman found slumped over in a car appears to have been from a drug overdose, as two people made court appearances in the case Tuesday – although no charges have been filed.
Ashley Calo, 33, was found dead inside a car a week ago after crashing near West Follett and North Main Streets. There was also a 3-year-old child in the vehicle.
Annaka Trudell, 20, had a bond hearing Tuesday on a potential charge of first-degree reckless homicide. Bond was set at $2 million cash by Judge Laura Lavey. No initial appearance date has been set.
Assistant District Attorney Gordon Leech said there is a drug transaction involved in the case, but he did not offer more details about any possible interaction between Trudell and Calo. Also, the reckless homicide count may be upgraded to a more serious charge, he said.
Trudell also faces a possession of marijuana charge. A March 1 preliminary is set in that case.
Also in court was Dawson Miller, 21, who appeared on a potential charge of aiding a felon.
Miller may have assisted Trudell in the drug deal which led to Calo’s death. He also allegedly hid some of Trudell’s bloody clothing, and had the victim’s identification and credit cards, Leech said.
Miller’s bond was set at $1 million cash.
