GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – One Green Bay Metro Fire Department firefighter was hospitalized with unspecified injuries while fighting a fire on the city’s northeast side Monday.
Crews were called to the home at 1122 Klaus Street shortly after 10 a.m. for a fire. Upon arrival, they found a two-story structure on fire, according a dept. news release.
“All occupants were able to self-evacuate. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in the basement, however, the fire had extended into the walls and void spaces within the structure,” the dept. said. “One occupant was treated and released on scene. One firefighter was transported to a nearby hospital with an injury. Two cats were rescued, two cats were found deceased.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The loss was estimated at $125,000.
