STOCKBRIDGE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two people were rescued Wednesday after becoming stuck on the ice on the east side of Lake Winnebago.
According to the Stockbridge Fire Department, crews were called around 8:55 a.m. for a report of two people stranded on the ice. The fire department said a crack opened up and the individuals could not get back to shore due to a 15-foot opening of open water.
The Town of Calumet Fire Department was dispatched to assist with the rescue. First responders were able to bring the two people roughly 300 yards down the crack where the ice pushed back together.
An air boat from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched as a precautionary measure but was not needed.
