GREEN BAY (WLUK) — The Green Bay School District Board of Education has placed Superintendent Dr. Claude Tiller Jr. on administrative leave as it conducts a review into comments he made during a radio interview.
Attorney Geoffrey Lacy released this statement from the school board Tuesday:
The Green Bay School District Board of Education has placed Superintendent, Dr. Claude Tiller, Jr. on paid administrative leave as it works through the issues raised in an Atlanta radio station interview.
We also would like to state that while there is speculation about why the radio livestream is no longer available online, the Board did not request the broadcast be removed. As for the records request regarding the public release of the video, board counsel is working through the legal process required for such requests.
Tiller was a guest Feb. 6 on a WAOK-AM show with the topic listed as “Navigating Educational Leadership: Insights from the First Black Superintendent of Green Bay Public Schools.” It also promoted the segment as “Prepare to be inspired by his journey, insights, and how he’s making a lasting impact in the education system.”
Ed Dorff, a former GBAPS school board member, spoke during the public comment period of Monday’s school board meeting. In his speech, Dorff said he listened to Tiller’s interview. He then repeated comments he alleged Tiller made during the commercial breaks. Dorff claimed Tiller’s comments allegedly criticized the Green Bay community and specific colleagues by name.
FOX 11 is not sharing Dorff’s specific comments because we are unable to verify what Tiller said. We have reached out to Tiller numerous times for comment regarding the radio show interview, but Tiller has not replied.
Tiller started as the district’s leader in July 2023.
