OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Synchronized drones will light up the sky during nighttime air shows at this year’s EAA AirVenture.
As many as 500 drones are expected to take part in the shows.
The drones are provided by Michigan-based Starlight Aerial Productions. Its parent company, Great Lakes Drone Company, first participated in AirVenture in 2018.
“Drone shows have emerged as a marvelous way to add technology, color, and entertainment to nighttime events and for us, it’s a perfect complement to the skill and excitement brought to the legendary Oshkosh night air shows by our aerobatic pilots and aircraft,” Rick Larsen, EAA’s vice president of communities and member programs, said in a news release. “This addition will make the night show even more memorable in 2024.”
The drones have LED lights that can create more than 4 billion color combinations and animated sequences synchronized to a musical score.
This year’s AirVenture is set for July 22-28 in Oshkosh.
