LAS VEGAS, NV (WTAQ-WLUK) – A decorated Army veteran from Oshkosh is in Las Vegas, just in time for the big game.
Pittsburgh Steelers Linebacker TJ Watt teamed up with the USAA a few weeks ago to surprise Adam Alexander with a trip to the Super Bowl.
Alexander was awarded Disabled Veteran of the Year in 2022 for his work with the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17 in Winnebago County. There he engages with local schools and provides testimony to the State Legislature to help disabled veterans
Alexander was struck in the head by sniper fire while serving in Afghanistan in 2011, leaving him with a 5% chance of survival.
Both Watt and Alexander say this opportunity is a special one.
“It is unbelievable to have received Super Bowl tickets from a Wisconsin legend,” said Alexander. “The Watt family is royalty in Wisconsin. To receive Super Bowl tickets from them no less is indescribable, once in a lifetime experience and can’t thank TJ, USAA and DAV enough for making this happen.”
“It is amazing to be able to have Adam Alexander here,” said Watt. “To be able to give him tickets to the Super Bowl, talk to other military members and their families, it means so much to me.”
Super Bowl 58 kicks off Sunday at 5:30.
