The Green Bay Phoenix women bounced back from a tough loss to Cleveland State last weekend which knocked them out of a share of first place in the Horizon League race. Back home at the Kress Center, GB beat Northern Kentucky 67-51. It was another milestone victory for Head Coach Kevin Borseth who has now won 500 games in his career at Green Bay. He has 812 victories in his overall career. This one didn’t come easy until after halftime. The Norse hit a couple of three’s early and raced out to a 15-4 lead. The Phoenix closed to the gap to 15-14 after the first quarter and led 31-28 at the break thanks to a Callie Genke banked three at the buzzer. The Lady Phoenix put the game away with an 18-0 run in the third quarter. Maddy Schreiber led the way with 16 points, Jasmine Kondrakewicz and Natalie McNeal each scored 12 with McNeal making it an impressive double-double with a whopping 16 rebounds. GB now stands 18-5 on the year, 11-2 in Horizon League play, a half game behind Cleveland State. The Phoenix will host IUPUI Saturday at 1:00 PM in the annual Pink Zone game to increase breast cancer awareness.
