EAU CLAIRE, Wis (WSAU-Wheeler News) While the sound of gunfire was heard inside Schneider Hall on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus yesterday, there was no emergency. It was part of an active shooter training exercise for university police officers. Campus police say that the main objective with an active shooter is to stop the threat as quickly as possible.
Officers suited up and worked through multiple scenarios involving a shooter last night, navigating through stairwells, hallways, and clearing rooms. Officers go through this type of training once a year.
