MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Menasha man is in custody after barricading himself inside the basement of home that he wasn’t supposed to be in.
Police say shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday, they responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1500 block of Greendale Street.
A young woman inside told dispatch a man, who is not to have contact with her mother or the residence, arrived and created a disturbance.
Police say the suspect, a 41-year-old man, has current bond conditions to not have contact with the address or victim resulting in previous domestic abuse related arrests.
Once officers arrived on scene, they learned the suspect was armed with edged weapons.
The suspect went to the basement and barricaded himself.
The remaining occupants of the home were not injured and able to evacuate safely.
Shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday, law enforcement used negotiations and less lethal options to peacefully resolve the situation.
The suspect was taken to the hospital for minor injures resulting from the less lethal tactics used to take him into custody.
