(WTAQ-WLUK) — Unseasonably warm temperatures causing hazardous ice conditions has led to the cancellation of the ice fishing portion of the annual Battle on Bago event.
In a Facebook post Tuesday, organizers said, “We will be proactively cancelling the ice fishing portion of our event due to the continued deterioration of ice conditions and safety for our anglers accessing the Lake Winnebago System. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not cooperate with a lot of winter activities for this season which can negatively impact outdoor events like ours.”
However, the remainder of Battle on Bago activities at Menominee Park in Oshkosh on Feb. 16 and 17 will still take place. Eventgoers will have the opportunity to participate in raffles, buy discounted merchandise, listen to live music and enjoy a Friday fish fry, all under a heated tent.
According to the post, organizers will be giving away 300 prizes valued at $200,000, including cash prizes, a Ford F150 and a Lund Boat.
