(WTAQ-WLUK) — The four siblings who died in a suspected drunk driving crash in Weyauwega are officially being burried Monday after arriving in their birthplace of Ecuador over the weekend.
The final funeral for Daniel (25), Fabian (23), Lilian (14) and Daniela (9) Gonzalez was held in Tuncarta, Ecuador, more than a month after a wrong-way driver took their lives.
The family of Gonzalez children held a funeral in Weyauwega last month before making arrangements to have them buried in Ecuador.
The siblings’ oldest brother, Jorge, still lives in Ecuador and has been trying to get a visa to travel to the U.S. to grieve with his mother, but those requests were denied.
This weekend, Jorge was reunited with his mother, Paulina, to bid a final farewell to his brothers and sisters.
The Facebook page, Justice 4 Gonzalez, live streamed the arrival of the Gonzalez’s to Ecuador and the service.
The four siblings were driving home on Dec. 16 when their vehicle was struck by a wrong-way driver on Highway 10.
The driver of the wrong-way vehicle, 47-year-old Scott Farmer of Neenah, is facing four charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
If convicted, it would be Farmer’s fifth OWI conviction.
