GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Efforts to save the Lake Michigan watershed continue in northeast Wisconsin.
‘Save the Bay’ is a collaborative initiative.
It brings together community leaders to develop ways to improve our water quality.
The goal is to reduce the amount of phosphorus, nitrogen and sediment that runs into the waters of Green Bay and Lake Michigan.
Congressman Mike Gallagher is a member of the initiative. On Thursday he took part in an open discussion and provided an update on what’s being done at the congressional level.
“That’s really the, the challenge going forward, it’s what are the right mix of local, state and federal incentives so we can turbocharge these practices and then you’ll start to see a massive improvement in water quality over the long-term.”
‘Save the Bay’ was launched in 2015 by then Congressman Reid Ribble.
