The Milwaukee Brewers have signed veteran first baseman Rhys Hoskins to a two year, free agent contract worth a reported 34 million dollars. Hoskins will be able to opt out of the deal after the 2024 season according to reports. The 30 year old missed all of last season after tearing his ACL during spring training. In 2022, Hoskins played in 156 games for Philadelphia, hitting .246 with 30 home runs and 79 runs batted in. He played six seasons for the Phillies and has a career batting average of .242 with 148 homers and 405 RBI’s. Milwaukee is looking for more consistent run production at the position after using Rowdy Tellez, acquiring Carlos Santana from Pittsburgh who is still an unsigned free agent. The Brewers also acquired Jake Bauers this off-season and have Owen Miller and Jahmani Jones on their 40 man roster.
The Brewers also announced Ryan Braun will become the 23rd member of the Brewers Walk of Fame outside American Family Field. Braun was a 10 time all star and is the franchises all-time home run leader.
