FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Fond du Lac home is deemed inhabitable after a fire.
Crews were called to 390 Tompkins Street at 9:12 a.m. Tuesday.
Upon arrival, flames and heavy smoke could be seen coming from inside the home.
There were occupants inside the home at the time of the fire. Officials say they all got out safely.
It took about three hours to completely control the fire as there were many void spaces with fire that were difficult to extinguish.
The Red Cross is assisting those who are displaced.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue crews will be out Wednesday canvassing the neighborhood, handing out fire safety literature, highlighting the importance of smoke alarms and detectors in the home.
