GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Shortly after winter storms moved through Northeast Wisconsin, the city of Green Bay is still feeling the effects.
Crews with the Green Bay Public Works Department will be removing snow from curb lanes downtown from 9 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday morning. Impacted streets include Washington, Stuart, Madison, Jefferson, Adams, Cherry and Pine Streets.
All parking meters in the area will be unavailable during that period. Officials warn anyone who parks at the meters will be ticketed and their vehicles may be towed. Drivers are asked to instead park in parking ramps or the Adams Street parking lot.
The wintry conditions left behind continue to cause problems for drivers, leading the Green Bay Police Department (GBPD) to issue a reminder to exercise caution on the roads.
The current arctic air and bitter cold temperatures have not allowed for the snow to completely melt on the roads, resulting in numerous crashes as packed snow and ice have created slick travel. Drivers should take it slow on the roads, plan for extra stopping distance, and extra travel time.
