GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The suspect who attacked his ex-girlfriend – forcing the early delivery of her baby – before getting into a standoff with police was convicted Tuesday.
Maison Purull, 24, pleaded no contest to multiple charges, including aggravated battery, strangulation, stalking, disorderly conduct, and failure to comply with an attempt to be taken into custody, for the incident at a home on Jackson Street in Green Bay, and the subsequent standoff at Lombardi Avenue and Marlee Lane on Aug. 25. He was also convicted of charges in two other cases, while other charges were dismissed in each of the three files.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 24.
According to the criminal complaint, Purull’s ex-girlfriend called police, saying he had beat her up and she needed an ambulance. Among the injuries the pregnant woman reported was being kicked in the ribs and being punched more than 20 times.
As a result of the attack, the woman had an emergency C-section. A 2-pound, 11-ounce baby was born on Aug. 25, well short of the Nov. 17 due date, the complaint states. Purull was not the father.
Hours after the incident, police tracked down Purull, and a standoff ensued. He eventually followed police commands and was arrested.
“As Purull was being taken into custody, he stated, “‘I am sorry for wasting all of your time,’” the complaint states.
