GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A youth mountain bike skills park in Green Bay is one step closer to being complete, thanks to a donation.
Brown County donated $35,000 to the youth bike skills park project at Triangle Hill Sports Area, reaching the project’s $565,000 fundraising goal.
Work on the bike skills park began in June of 2022 and opened in July of 2023. But because the project hadn’t reached its fundraising goal, there was still some work left to do.
The park provides a fun, safe, and equitable space for youth and off-road cyclists to develop their skills while navigating a variety of obstacles.
By reaching the park’s fundraising goal, the last of the track’s features and finishing touches can be done in spring.
“I think we’re also going to see a lot of people coming in from surrounding areas with their kids and with their bikes to enjoy a very, very unique, skilled bike course here at the Baird Creek Preservation Foundation land and I think it’s going to be something that is cherished not only by the people that live here but people that come here as well to enjoy the recreational opportunities that we have in Brown County,” said Brown County Supervisor, Dan Theno.
Organizers say all work should be complete by the end of May.
