(WTAQ-WLUK) — A failed traffic stop Monday led to the arrest of a Green Bay man for his fourth offense of operating a vehicle under the influence.
According to online court records, 70-year-old Thomas Bins is facing a felony charge of 4th OWI, in addition to a misdemeanor for resisting/failing to stop. He made an initial appearance Tuesday.
Just after 5 p.m. Monday, Oconto County Dispatch received a report of a red pickup truck “that was deviating from their lane of travel and almost struck numerous other vehicles.”
A trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol located the vehicle on Interstate 41 near the Brown County and Oconto County line. They attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle failed to yield. The trooper and two officers with the Green Bay Police Department boxed the vehicle in and it eventually came to a stop.
Upon making contact with Bins, the trooper observed signs of impairment. After completing standardized field sobriety tests, Bins was arrested.
Online records show Bins was released Tuesday evening on a $1,500 cash bond with SCRAM, a tool that continuously monitors and measures the wearer’s alcohol consumption.
