FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire that damaged a Fond du Lac home Tuesday.
Fond du Lac Fire Rescue was dispatched to a two-story single family residential home at 369 North Street just after 7 p.m.
Upon arrival, crews found fire showing from a first floor window and smoke emitting from the rear of the building. Fire Companies quickly knocked the fire down from the outside and made an interior fire attack, extinguishing the fire. Crews then searched the entire building for occupants, finding none.
Officials said the fire was brought under control within 10 minutes. The kitchen suffered heavy damage, with smoke damaging the rest of the home. No nearby structures were impacted.
One resident was assessed and treated on scene by paramedics with Fond du Lac Fire Rescue. Electric and gas utilities on scene were secured by Alliant Energy. The Red Cross is assisting the residents of the home.
Fire investigators are still working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
