TOWN OF ELBA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Fond du Lac man suffered life-threatening injures after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in Dodge County.
At approximately 5:20 p.m. Friday, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a “serious injury crash” on State Highway 16/60 near Roche Road in the town of Elba.
Officials say an initial investigation showed that a 28-year-old female from Columbus was driving a 2017 Ford Explorer eastbound on STH 16/60 when the vehicle hit a bicyclist, 31, from Fond du Lac.
The male bicyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but was wearing dark clothing and did not have any lighting on. The crash occurred near the fog line. The bicyclist suffered serious injuries that are potentially life threatening and was transported to UW-Hospital by Life Star EMS.
The driver of the SUV was not injured. This crash is under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team.
