OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) — A new Oshkosh based program is helping veterans with transportation.
The Oshkosh Area Chamber of Commerce and Chapter 17 of the Disabled American Veterans’ Association are helping take vets to medical appointments as far as Appleton and Green Bay.
“The vans are parked right here at the Chamber, so this is the hub where drivers pick up the vehicles, then they will go out to pick up the veterans to get them to their appointments,” said Chamber President Rob Kleman.
The program will have one van to start, but it’s likely the fleet will increase with demand after the program starts.
Veterans in Omro and Winneconne are also eligible for the service.
“Anytime we can help improve the lives of our local veterans of Oshkosh and our region, we’re all in on that,” said Kleman.
The service will start on January 2.
