TOMAH, Wis. (WSAU) — The Veterans Administration has announced they will terminate Tomah Va Medical Center Chief of Staff David Houlihan. Houlihan was notified today, following several months of investigation into opiate prescription issues and alleged intimidation of staff and whistleblowers.
Houlihan had been placed on leave during the investigation, as of January. Now, he will be removed from the VA system November 9th and will no longer have medical privilages within the VA hospitals and clinics.
The reactions are already beginning to come in. Congressman Ron Kind (D-La Crosse) issued a statement saying, “After extensive and fair investigation the VA has formally removed Dr. Houlihan from their employment. This is an important step in moving forward at the Tomah VA and ensuring our veterans receive the care they earned and deserve.”
