OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) — The holidays are just around the corner, and the Oshkosh Fire Department is beginning their 25th annual Food and Toy Drive on Wednesday night.
“We drive through different neighborhoods with Santa and we collect food, toys, and cash donations to help people who may not have a great holiday, have a better holiday,” said John Holland with the Oshkosh Fire Department.
In 2022, the department collected a record of over 6,100 pounds of food, and 2,500 toys collected amounted to a total of over $50,600 in retail value.
Donations through the program are given directly to the Salvation Army in Oshkosh; who distribute the donations to families in need.
The fire department will accept non-perishable food items, new/unwrapped gifts, wrapping paper/tape, and cash donations at any fire station.
All routes will begin between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. This year’s dates are:
- Wednesday, November 29 – Station 14

- Monday, December 4 – Station 15

- Thursday, December 7 – Station 16

- Monday, December 11 – Station 17/19

- Tuesday, December 12 – Station 18
