APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — The Appleton Police Department is investigating a downtown disturbance that occurred early Saturday morning.
On November 11 shortly after 2 a.m., Appleton Police Department officers conducting foot patrol in the downtown corridor were alerted to a disturbance occurring in the 100 block of South Walnut Street.
As officers arrived and began to separate parties that were physically fighting, a single gunshot was heard a short distance away.
“At that point [after the gunshot] a lot of people were running from the area, so officers searched for a while to try to find who that shooter was,” said Lt. Meghan Cash with the Appleton Police Department. “They did locate one single shell casing near the scene.”
Other items of evidence were also collected from the scene.
No serious injuries were reported.
