APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Appleton is set to host the 2023 World Axe and Knife Throwing League Championships.
Professional and amateur throwers are coming together at the Fox Cities Exhibition Center to compete for an international title.
“We’ve got over 300 throwers from across the country and even out of the country coming to compete,” said Mike Morton, Commissioner of the World Axe Throwing League. “We’ve got hatchet games, we’ve got skills games, we’re putting on a really unique and fun event.”
The event takes place from Thursday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m. through Sunday, Nov. 12, in downtown Appleton. Doors open at various times throughout the respective days.
Dedicated competitors also battle it out in a multi-faceted skills team competition and duals games throughout the meet.
Fans are encouraged to attend for free on Thursday through Saturday. Sunday is ticketed with capacity limits.
