PORTAGE, WI (WSAU) — Those returning to Central Wisconsin from the south have had some travel headaches to close out their Labor Day vacations.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is reporting Interstate 39 northbound is down to one lane in areas of Columbia County due to flooding.
Earlier in the day, the DOT had reported that Southbound lanes of I39 were also down to one lane due to flooding. Those lanes have cleared up.
Road closures are also being reported in Dane, Vernon, Sauk, Marquette, and Crawford Counties. Conditions are expected to worsen over the next 24-36 hours as another round of rain moves through the region, dumping another one to two inches of precipitation in places.
