ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – You might have to do a double-take, but some places in Wisconsin are selling gas for less than $2 a gallon.
In Ashwaubenon, the Krist Oil station on Babcock Road near Austin Straubel International Airport was selling unleaded regular for $1.90.
In other parts of Wisconsin, like Sun Prairie, gas is selling for $1.99. That’s below the $2 mark for the first time around Thanksgiving in six years.
Experts say part of the reason is that all Midwest refineries are up and running without issue.
The average national price is still over $2 a gallon, but experts expect the national average to fall to that level by Christmas.
