ONEIDA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Oneida Nation and Brown County have agreed to extend their working relationship to benefit both communities.
The tribe and the county signed an intergovernmental agreement Wednesday, to outline provisions for two governments to identify compensation for services provided without a tax base.
The 15-year agreement recognizes the services provided by local governments and in reciprocation the local governments recognize the services provided by the Oneida Nation.
“This agreement, again, kind of immortalizes the great working relationship we have with Brown County and the services that the county provides and the services that the nation provides to both our people and the land, so we just like to take this opportunity to sign this agreement today, marking this great occasion for another 15-year extension,” Oneida Nation Chairman Tehassi Hill said.
By the time the agreement is finished, it will be 30 years the county and the nation have been working together.
