ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — More than four dozen area military veterans were honored by the green and gold.
The Green Bay Packers held the annual Huddle for Heroes event at The Turn Tuesday.
Aaron Jones, A.J. Dillon, Rasul Douglas, Elgton Jenkins and Romeo Doubs were among the Packers players who participated in the event.
It began with a Q&A session between veterans and players and ended with everyone writing letters to active-duty military members.
“A lot of our players are volunteering their time to come here on their day off because they want to be with these veterans, they want to show them their gratitude and their appreciation for their service and for everything that they’ve done for our country,” said Packers football outreach manager, Ryan Fencl. “It means a lot to these guys who are playing at the highest level of football and they’re able to look at the bigger picture and know that there’s a lot more going on outside the sport in our world.”
This event is a part of the larger Salute to Service initiative, hosted by the Green Bay Packers and Fleet Farm throughout the month of November to honor and appreciate veterans and members of the military.
