FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man who threatened a school shooting while being booked into jail on a drunk driving offense was sentenced to probation for the threat, and 45 days in jail for the drunk driving charge.
Darrell Scott, 67, was convicted of making a terrorist threat and two misdemeanors, including drunk driving, for the April 3 incident, court records show.
Scott was placed on probation for one year by Fond du Lac County Judge Anthony Nehls for the threat.
In addition to the jail time for the third drunk driving, his driver’s license was revoked for two years. Once reinstated, he would have an ignition interlock for two years, according to court records.
Scott was arrested in the town of Waupun after he was clocked at 94 mph in a 65 mph zone on Highway 151.
According to the criminal complaint, a breath test showed Scott’s blood alcohol concentration at .105. Deputies also said they found .72 grams of marijuana.
While Scott was giving a blood sample, deputies said he began discussing what he referred to as assault rifles. The talk continued as Scott was being taken to jail. Deputies said Scott said something similar to, “When I get out, I’m gonna buy an assault rifle and shoot up a school, there’s nothing you can do to stop me.”
Scott continued to make similar comments while being jailed.
