Kaukauna Police (WLUK)
KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man who was arrested in a Kaukauna home after police found his wife deceased, has died at a hospital.
Officers were called to the 100 block of W. 13th Street around 7 p.m. Saturday for a welfare check.
When police arrived, they found deceased 45-year-old Jessica VanSyoc with substantial traumatic injuries.
In the same room as Jessica’s body, was her husband, Eric VanSyoc. Police say he was exhibiting uncooperative and erratic behavior. While attempting to detain Eric, a Kaukauna police officer and an Outagamie County sheriff’s deputy both deployed their Tasers.
Once detained, police say Eric experienced a medical episode, prompting officers and paramedics to render on-scene care. Eric was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Due to the in-custody circumstances, Eric’s death is being investigated by the Appleton Police Department. The officer and deputy involved have been placed on administrative leave, per agency policy.
