MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Manitowoc Police are requesting reckless homicide charges in connection with a July drug overdose death.
Eric Newcomer, 45, was found dead inside an apartment on South 23rd Street on July 10, according to a police probable cause statement.
Phone text messages connected Christopher Ducat, 36, to a drug deal with Newcomer. Ducat also told family members on a recorded jail phone line that he was going to be charged for a friend’s death, the statement says.
While the report redacts autopsy results, it states Ducat provided heroin-fentanyl and methamphetamine to Newcomer.
Ducat is scheduled to have a court appearance Wednesday afternoon. Formal charges have not been filed.
