MENOMINEE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Gov. Tony Evers has appointed a new register of deeds for Menominee County.
Mary Shawanokasic fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Menomin Hawpetoss, on Aug. 4.
Shawanokasic will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term that ends on Jan. 5, 2025.
“I am extremely honored to accept the appointment of the Menominee County Register of Deeds by Governor Evers. I look forward to continuing my services to the citizens of Menominee County,” said Shawanokasic. “As the newly appointed Menominee County Register of Deeds, I will continue to excel in my duties and strive for the best for the members of Menominee County. Thank you to my family, friends, and colleagues for your encouragement and support.”
Shawanokasic is a graduate of Menominee Sr. High School and the College of Menominee Nation. She has served as the deputy register of deeds in Menominee County since 2021. Shawanokasic’s appointment received unanimous support from the Menominee County Board of Supervisors.
