GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Volunteers are making a difference for their Green Bay neighbors.
This week is the city-wide Good Neighbor Week where volunteers assist with minor home repairs and property improvements for free.
Without the help from volunteers and sponsors, Carnardo Johnson, certified housing counselor with NeighborWorks Green Bay, says they may never get done.
“They would probably look just a little bit more dilapidated, you know, not having a lot of – these are usually homeowners who doesn’t have a lot of physicality to do the work themselves or it’s a little overbearing so we have, you know, 10, 12 people come out and really help them get that together for them,” he said.
It’s also a chance for community members to get to know their neighbors.
“It’s just important for us to be neighbors. That’s what’s most important for us to be neighbors in this community and help each other out,” Johnson said.
Over the course of a week, volunteers will complete nine projects across the city.
