GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Gulfstream announced the official opening of its new world-class paint hangar in Greenville.
The expansion is part of a multi-year plan announced in 2021. This recent growth has brought many jobs to the area, impacting the Fox Valley economically.
The aircraft company showed off its brand new $55 million dollar facility at a ribbon cutting Thursday morning.
“The Appleton International Airport is responsible for well over $700 million dollars of economic activity, supporting over 3,000 jobs,” said Tom Nelson, Outagamie County Executive.
These expansions have over the last few years have significantly increased operations and created more than 200 jobs in the region.
“And it’s because of investments like this,” said Nelson.
The expansion will allow Gulfstream to perform the entire aircraft completions process start-to-finish all in the Fox Valley.
“Before we opened this paint facility, as part of our process, we would have to fly the aircraft to a different facility to paint them and then bring them here to actually be completed and delivered to the customer,” said John Kenan, vice president of completions at Gulfstream.
Unveiling this new building was part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebration.
Kenan says the custom-designed, 73,000 square-foot facility is capable of painting 48 planes per year.
The aircraft company first announced this expansion in June of 2022.
“Now we can do all that in Appleton, it’s a convenience for the customer and it’s also great for the community as well,” said Kenan.
Gulfstream says a large number of these jobs have been filled, but hiring is ongoing.
“And we actually partner with the local high schools,” said Kenan. “We have a youth apprentice program where we’ll bring high school students in as juniors and seniors and let them work part time during school and full time here in the summer so they can see if this is something they’d like to do for a career.”
