DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Three Green Bay Packers players spent Tuesday afternoon getting active with students who have special needs.
Tight ends Luke Musgrave, Josiah Deguara and Ben Sims visited Syble Hopp School in De Pere for a football outreach camp for kids with disabilities.
About 180 kids participated in one of the camp’s two sessions.
“We do these camp throughout the state of Wisconsin. We go to different elementary schools, and we also host some of these camps… over on the turf field in Titletown,” explained Packers Football Outreach Manager Ryan Fencl. “It’s just important for us to be out in the community and be giving back to all of these different elementary schools across the state. We want to have fans grow up and be Packers fans, and this is one way to bring the Packers to them.”
The Packers’ Football Outreach Camp initiative is coordinated in conjunction with the NFL’s Play 60 program.
These complimentary camps offer boys and girls the chance to test their football skills by completing various drills and obstacle courses.
Campers rotate through five stations: a relay race, kicking a ball, throwing a pass, leaping to make a catch and diving for a touchdown.
