GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Two people, including a firefighter, were taken to the hospital after a fire in an apartment building on Green Bay’s east side.
Green Bay Metro Fire Department Chief Matthew Knott said that at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday, firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire at August Manor Apartments in the 1800 block of August Street.
Upon arrival, crews found smoke and flames in the basement of the 24-unit building.
Knott said firefighters “made multiple rescues of occupants on the first floor and second floor of the building.”
One apartment resident and one firefighter were transported to the hospital for treatment and evaluation after sustaining injuries.
Knott said the fire’s cause and origin are still under investigation.
