OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A lawsuit challenging a Neenah ordinance prohibiting signs which promote businesses at other locations and regulating commercial advertising on parked vehicles will continue, a judge ruled Thursday.
Four residents – Gail & Margaret Minks, and Gary & Kim Novak – filed suit against the city in April, challenging the law.
Judge Daniel Bissett denied the city’s request for a summary judgment motion to dismiss the case. He also issued a temporary injunction prohibiting the city from enforcing the ordinance while the case continues.
No trial date was set. A scheduling conference will be held Oct. 12.
This case is separate from one filed in federal court, which has residents challenging the sign ordinance after they were ordered to take down lawn signs about the Shattuck Middle School sale. A final ruling has not been made in that case, although a judge issued an order stopping the city from enforcing the ordinance while the case continues.
