(WTAQ-WLUK) — Fox Crossing Police are encouraging residents to do a “9 p.m. routine” after a string of preventable thefts last week.
Officers were dispatched to more than a dozen reports of items taken from unlocked vehicles between Aug. 18 through Aug. 21.
“Safety and security are of utmost importance to us, and we encourage citizens to take proactive measures to protect their belongings,” Fox Crossing Police community liaison officer, Daniel Wiechman said.
The 9 p.m. routine includes:
- Remove valuables from vehicles, including electronics, bags, personal items
- Lock your vehicle doors
- Close your garage doors
- Close and lock all exterior doors
- Turn on exterior lights
- Activate any security/surveillance devices
“Together, we can create a more secure environment where every resident feels safer. We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to keeping our community secure,” Wiechman said.
