GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Green Bay’s chalk art festival, ChalkFest, will take place Saturday, August 12 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Green Bay.
Now in its sixth year—the free, family-focused festival features local and regional chalk artists at work, concessions, art and craft vendors, live music, a magician, the Brown County Library’s Bookmobile with storytelling, and children’s activities provided by Einstein Project and the Kroc. Solid Foundation Learning will also host their Children’s Business Fair, providing an opportunity for entrepreneurs ages fourteen & younger to highlight and sell their crafts or goods.
The concessions available for purchase will benefit the Kroc Scholarship Fund.
“We’re looking forward to another successful event this year,” says Kristine Blum, Community Outreach Coordinator for the Kroc. “It’s a great opportunity for some free, family fun, and we love being able to showcase the talented artists in our community.”
Attendees can watch as chalk artists complete their work over several hours, voting to determine the People’s Choice winner. Additionally, judges will award prizes for first, second and third place, and artists can vote for one another with this year’s new category, Artist’s Choice prize.
“This year we’ll have over 25 chalk artists, some coming as far as Eau Claire or Milwaukee, and some from our community,” said Blum. “We are still looking for about 5 more artists.”
