GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Appleton man is facing five years in federal prison for an over-five-hour-long armed standoff in April.
Torey Robinson, 37, was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He will spend five years in prison and before being placed on supervised release for three years.
State charges related to the standoff were dropped.
According to court documents, Robinson approached Appleton police officers on April 10 and asked about their body armor. Within an hour, officers received report of gunshots near Robinson’s home on N. Leminwah Street.
As police were trying to get in touch with the people in the house, Robinson came out and fired a shot into the air from what police believe was a rifle. He then went back into the house.
After over five hours of negotiations, Robinson was arrested. No one was injured.
At the scene, officers found a rifle and several rounds of ammunition. As a convicted felon, he was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
