GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Jahir De La Pena-Rodriguez, 20, was charged Monday with attempted first-degree intentional homicide for a weekend stabbing.
In court Monday, De La Pena-Rodriguez’s bond was set at $75,000; he is also prohibited from contacting the victim and a witness. He returns to court July 26.
According to the criminal complaint, De La Pena-Rodriguez and the victim were at a bar, and later returned to a Klaus Street home. De La Pena-Rodriguez and the victim argued, and De La Pena-Rodriguez allegedly stabbed the man.
“Jahir stated that his sister’s boyfriend attacked him and grabbed a knife, put in his back pocket, Jahir then stated that he went to the kitchen to grab a knife and he began to get in a fight with her boyfriend. He stated to the staff he was going to kill that son of a bitch,”” the complaint states.
Just before 3 a.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1300 block of Klaus Street for a report of a male victim found with a stab wound.
The victim, a 24-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
With the assistance of a K9 unit, police were able to arrest De La Pena-Rodriguez following a brief foot pursuit.
No one else was injured.
