GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — A new dining experience in Green Bay is almost ready to welcome its first customers.
A project two years in the making; The Cannery on Broadway will open as a food incubator and test kitchen. The grand opening is set for Wednesday, July 12 at 11 a.m.
The Cannery will house and support five independent small business that are learning the ropes of the restaurant business; with the goal of them graduating out of the space when they’re ready.
Tenant entrepreneurs are supported by an in-house entrepreneur guide, the Greater Green Bay Chamber, and restaurant coaches.
Josh Rogers, Incubator Director with The Cannery, says The Cannery isn’t “home” for the restaurants.
“This is like a stepping stone for them in order to learn the business side of the restaurant,” said Rogers. “That way when they go out and open their own space, they can be successful when they do that.
Titletown Brewing will have a location in The Cannery, and will serve as a mentor to the other restaurants. Those restaurants include Fivethumbsup, Irie Jamaican Food, Olive’s Pizza and Sandwiches, Columbian Flavors, and Honey & Cream Café.
Customers will be able to seat themselves, and scan a QR code at the table for each restaurant’s menu. They can then make selections on their phone from one or more of the businesses, and have the food brought out to them. Additionally, customers can make one all-encompassing payment when purchasing from multiple businesses.
The Cannery is still looking for other businesses to support; prospective tenants can apply online.
