DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) — The Brown County Fair is August 16-20.
On Friday, August 18 from 10 a.m. to noon, the Brown County Fair Association, together with All Around Amusements, is inviting any individuals with special needs to come and enjoy the fair free of charge.
The manager of the Brown County Fair, Sheila Steinfeldt, says it was the owners of All Around Amusements who had the idea.
“Rob lost his wife last December from Lou Gehrig’s disease,” said Steinfeldt. “He said it was really important to the family that they were doing these special needs days with the carnival.”
Rides and games will be open exclusively to special needs individuals during this time.
Any rides that can have strobe lights shut off will, and music will be turned down or off. Ride staff will take extra time to load rides and a caregiver is allowed to ride with special needs individuals. However, rides are not wheelchair accessible.
Barns will be open and the special attractions will also have a show during this time frame. A sensory room will also be available for individuals who need to take a break and relax.
