GILLETT, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Gillett’s school superintendent has died.
Todd Hencsik died of cancer May 28, according to his obituary.
Hencsik took over as superintendent in 2020. He was credited with guiding the district through the COVID-19 pandemic and two referendums.
“Todd will be remembered for his never-ending supply of positivity and optimism. His kindness and genuine caring guided our district, staff, students, and community, and made an impact in his short time here in Gillett,” the district wrote in a Facebook post.
Hencsik attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he played basketball. He also taught at schools in Milwaukee and was an administrator in Waukesha; Rockton, Illinois; and Campbellsport.
Memorial services are set for Saturday.
Wayne Johnson will continue as interim superintendent in Gillett. He has held that position since December.
