A roster depleted by injury, Tyrone Taylor and Darin Ruf hit the injured list over the weekend, the Milwaukee Brewers are getting big contributions from kids called up from Triple A Nashville. In Saturday’s wild 10-8 victory over the Reds in Cincinnati, Blake Perkins delivered a grand slam home run and on Sunday, it was Andruw Monasterio who belted a three run homer in the first in Milwaukee’s 5-1 victory. Monasterio’s first big league homer helped the Crew to it’s third straight victory at the Great American Ballpark. Victor Caratini launched a solo bomb in the 5th and Owen Miller contributed an RBI knock as well. On the mound, Adrian Houser rebounded from a shaky start to deliver seven solid innings, scattering six hits and allowing one run, a solo homer to Jake Fraley in the 7th. The Brewers improve to 32-27 on the year and maintain a half game lead on the Pirates in the NL Central as Pittsburgh completed a weekend sweep of St. Louis with a 2-1 victory, their 5th straight. Milwaukee will send Julio Terehan to the hill against Andrew Abbott in the series finale Monday night. Pre-game coverage begins at 5:35 PM with a 6:10 PM first pitch on WTAQ.
Willy Adames, recovering from a concussion suffered on May 26 when he was struck by a foul ball while in the dugout, was on a rehab assignment for the Wisconsin TimberRattlers Sunday. As the designated hitter, Adames delivered a home run and a double as Wisconsin fell to Peoria 6-5 in 10 innings.
