APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The grannies will be dancing again; this time in the Appleton Flag Day Parade. The Milwaukee Dancing Grannies will be joining the Green Bay Professional Football Cheerleaders for the parade.
The group of “well-seasoned,” not old, women is a resilient one; as they continue to dance after the fatal Waukesha Christmas Parade in 2021.
In that parade, four of the six victims killed by Darrell Brooks Jr. were from the Dancing Grannies, including their longtime leaders.
But they haven’t let tragedy stop them from dancing again. They performed during the Waukesha Christmas Parade this year and are coming to Appleton to continue the fun.
The parade begins at 2 p.m. on June 10 at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and N. Oneida Street.
The day will include other events as well, such as the Flag Day Cavalcade of Cars and The Echoes of Camp Randall, featuring members of the UW-Madison marching band.
