(WTAQ-WLUK) — Construction begins Tuesday on a stretch of Highway 441 in Outagamie and Calumet counties.
The nearly $9.8 million project runs from Oneida Street to the north junction of Interstate-41.
The project includes pavement and structure repairs, repairing and replacing culverts and storm sewer and guardrail maintenance.
The project aims to extend the life of 441 and improve safety and traffic flow, which will hopefully reduce traffic backups on 441.
There will be a continuous single-lane closure along 441 between County CE and County OO for about three months. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation expects this closure to create significant delays along 441, beginning in August.
For the rest of the project, single-lane closures will occur during the night between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Construction is expected to finish next April.
Traffic impacts along county or local roads within the construction area:
- Single lane closures along County KK between 7 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- Single lane closures along County CE eastbound between 7 p.m. to 11 a.m.
- Single lane closures along County CE westbound between 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Telulah Avenue will have a single lane closure during daylight hours
- Newberry Street will be closed to vehicle traffic for up to two weeks
- Pedestrian bridge just east of Oneida Street will be closed for up to two weeks
Interchange ramp closures:
- County KK ramp closure times are variable but generally between 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- County CE ramp closure times are variable but generally between 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- County OO northbound exit and southbound entrance ramp closure times are variable but generally between 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
