It’s shutout week at American Family Stadium. After the Brewers kept the Houston Astros off the scoreboard both Tuesday and Wednesday, turnabout was fair play as the San Francisco Giants opened a four game series by shutting out the Brewers 5-0. The Giants used their bullpen in the opener and six pitchers combined on the four hit shutout. The Brewers drew a pair of walks for a grand total of six base runners all night. San Francisco broke the game open with a four run 8th inning off relief pitcher Tyson Miller. Michael Conforto capped a 4 for 4 night with a solo home run in the rally. It spoiled the debut of newly signed starter Julio Teheran. The former Atlanta Braves All-Star made his first major league appearance since pitching one game for the Detroit Tigers in 2001. The Brewers signed him off the San Diego Padres, AAA El Paso club where he was 4-2 in 8 starts. Teheran was effective, working five innings, giving up a run (in the 5th) on four hits with five strikeouts. Milwaukee was in need of another arm with Brandon Woodruff, Aaron Ashby, Wade Miley and Eric Lauer all on the injured list. The Brewers fall to 27-23 but remain atop the NL Central by a game and a half over the idle Pirates. Freddy Peralta will start game two of the series against Alex Wood. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:35 PM with a 7:10 PM first pitch on WTAQ.
